Fabric stores in Grand County

Grand County’s quilting resources are concentrated in Moab, where one full-service shop and one active guild cover more ground than the old one-store description suggested. Canyonland Quilts operates from a 2,000-square-foot warehouse south of downtown. Its merchant profile reports more than 3,000 bolts, including over 150 wide-backing choices. The catalog covers quilting cotton, flannel, minky, panels, kits, precuts, batting, thread, patterns, books, rulers, cutting tools, notions, and sewing-related gifts.

Fabric departments include western, wildlife, national park and destination, patriotic, seasonal, children’s, and licensed prints. That makes the shop particularly useful for quilts tied to Utah, the Southwest, and outdoor themes.

The machine side includes Handi Quilter longarms, rulers, gadgets, bobbins, and Pro-Stitcher education. Delicate Stitchers and public quilt exhibitions

Delicate Stitchers Quilt Guild has served Moab-area quilters since 1998. It meets on the second Tuesday at the Grand Center and maintains a public website with show-and-tell photos, lessons, Sew Saturdays, works in progress, and service projects.

The guild’s themed challenge exhibitions at the Moab Museum make current local work accessible to the public. Its larger biennial Quilting in the Red Rocks show has featured antique, traditional, and art quilts, vendors, and demonstrations.
