Shop hop planner
Pick a day, choose your shops, and get a route. The point of this one is the day — it knows which shops are shut on Mondays and which close at four, so you don't drive to a locked door.
The planner starts with today in your browser. Choose your trip day above; shops listed as closed that day are hidden unless you select “All shops.”
How to use it
Check the shops you want and the planner builds a Google Maps route in the order you picked them, opening in whatever maps app you use. Google will happily reorder the stops for you once it's open — this just gets them all in there without typing nine addresses on a phone.
Google's route links take about ten stops before they stop working, so if you're planning something ambitious, split it into two days. Which is honestly the right call anyway — nobody enjoys their sixth quilt shop.
What "open" means here
Hours reflect the schedules recorded in the directory, not a live check that a shop is open. Shops with no confirmed schedule are labeled hours not confirmed and may still appear with the open-day filter. Confirm hours, appointments and walk-in availability with the business before planning a visit; an online listing does not guarantee a storefront.
Small shops also change their hours for holidays, family events and the odd snow day without updating anything online. If a shop is the whole reason for your trip, it's worth a call.
When the official hop is on
The Utah Shop Hop runs most years in late April into early May — a block trail across participating shops, with prizes. That's the natural time to use this, though a made-up hop on an ordinary Saturday works just as well. Other shows and festivals are worth building a trip around too.
Some routes that work
If you'd rather not build one from scratch:
- Sandy — two shops a two-minute walk apart on Main Street, plus two more nearby. The easiest quilting afternoon in the state.
- St. George — five shops within a few minutes, and Clover Patch ten minutes out in Santa Clara.
- Utah County — American Fork, Orem, Provo and Springville strung along twenty minutes of I-15. Start at American Quilting, which shuts at four.
- Logan — four verified stops covering fabric, handwork, machines, classes, and repair, plus ADORNit a few minutes north in Hyde Park.
