About New Friends Quilt Circle

New Friends Quilt Circle is more than a monthly guild meeting. Members gather weekly, which gives the group time for actual sewing, demonstrations, and friendships that develop through working alongside one another. Daytime meetings begin at 10 a.m. on Tuesdays, with the first meeting of the month traditionally held at Pleasant Grove Library and the others at the American Fork Senior Center. The circle has also offered evening gatherings twice a month.

Community service is one of the group’s defining purposes. American Fork City has recognized the circle for making quilts for seniors, children, veterans, and families facing illness or trauma. That service work sits alongside technique lessons, block projects, and the ordinary help that happens when quilters can put a difficult project on a table and solve it together.

The Steel Days Quilt Show

The circle organizes the free Steel Days Quilt Show each July at the American Fork Senior Center. The show has been a city tradition for more than three decades, accepts work from community quilters rather than members alone, and includes public voting and awards. It is the clearest public window into what the group contributes to American Fork.
