St. George has the densest fabric-and-machine shopping cluster in southern Utah. Its five current listings serve different needs rather than functioning as interchangeable quilt shops. A well-planned route can cover traditional fabric, batiks, thread, yarn, cuddle, machine sales, repairs, longarm systems, and education in one city.

Choose stores by specialty

Blue Willow Mercantile combines fabric, yarn, kits, gifts, classes, PFAFF and HUSQVARNA VIKING machines, and INNOVA longarms. Its instruction includes beginner quilting, technique classes, apparel sewing, and private lessons.

Dave’s Bernina focuses on BERNINA and bernette machines, repair, parts, accessories, fabric, and an active calendar of classes, clubs, workshops, and retreat events. Quiltandsew.com, formerly Sewing & Quilting Center, now operates at Red Cliffs Mall. It adds Baby Lock, Brother, Janome, Elna, and Handi Quilter machines, certified technicians, cuddle, widebacks, thread, notions, and machine education.

Fab Fabrics is the thread-and-batik stop, with longarm quilting and day-use sewing space at the YLI Retreat Center. Its website has recently been unreliable, so call before making a special trip. Scrap Apple Quilts is now connected with Sew Yeah Quilting. Its local website directs online orders to Sew Yeah and publishes limited store detail, making a phone call prudent before a class or inventory-specific visit.

Plan around location and hours

The stores are spread across central and south St. George rather than all being in the historic downtown grid. Blue Willow closes at 5 p.m. on weekdays, and Dave’s currently lists summer hours ending at 5 p.m. weekdays and 3 p.m. Saturday. Quiltandsew.com opens at 9 a.m. on weekdays and stays open until 6 p.m. Place early-closing stores first and confirm hours before a holiday or long drive.
