Quilting in Wayne County

Wayne County has more current quilting infrastructure than a blank business directory would suggest. The county fair accepts Home Arts & Crafts entries, and the Utah Quilt Guild lists a Loa-based instructor and accredited quilt-show judge. The 2026 Wayne County Fair runs August 10 through 15 at the Loa fairgrounds. Its current fair schedule lists 4-H and Home Arts & Crafts entry intake at the Loa Civic Center from 1 to 6 p.m. Tuesday, August 11, and from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Wednesday, August 12. The exhibit is open to the public from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Thursday and from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday.

Utah 4-H’s statewide judging resources include quilting, tied quilting, sewing construction, and fabric crafts. The public Wayne schedule does not break out every local quilt division, so entrants should confirm the 2026 classes, age rules, and entry requirements with the fair’s Home Arts contact before preparing a quilt.

Quilt instruction and judging in Loa

The Utah Quilt Guild’s current learning-resources directory lists Loa resident Marsha Chappell as both a resource instructor and an accredited quilt- show judge. Older regional heritage material describes an annual High Country Quilters show at the Teasdale Cultural Hall around July 4.
