Fabric stores in Orem, Utah

Orem sits in the middle of Utah County’s most convenient fabric-shopping corridor. Its three stores have different specialties, so choosing between them depends more on the project than on which has the larger general inventory.

American Quilting is organized for quilters. It carries current designer collections, color-wall basics and blenders, 1930s and Civil War reproduction fabric, juvenile prints, panels, kits, patterns, notions, and classes. The store layout is helpful when you need to match an existing block or find supporting colors for one focal print.

The Fabric Mill now operates online as Minky Luv and specializes in minky yardage, blankets, pillows, and other soft goods. Visit when pile, texture, and exact color matter; those qualities are often easier to compare in person than online. Bring a swatch of any cotton or flannel you plan to pair with the minky.

Soft Squares offers quilting fabric, supplies, kits, online shopping, open sew, and sewing machine rentals. Retail hours are limited to Tuesday and Thursday, 6–8 p.m., and Saturday, 11 a.m.–6 p.m. Friday open sew runs separately; reserve ahead and note that the classroom is upstairs without an elevator.

Plan around retail hours

American Quilting currently closes at 4 p.m. Monday through Saturday, so put it first when planning several stops. The Fabric Mill currently stays open until 6 p.m. Check all shops’ current hours before a holiday trip or a visit for a specific item.
