Quilting in Kane County

Kane County does not currently have a verified dedicated quilt shop, but it has an unusually active quilting community for a rural county. Kanab supports two guilds with different schedules, hosts a multi-day quilt retreat, and connects local makers with annual Home Arts exhibits at the county fair in Orderville.

Two Kanab quilt guilds

Canyon Country Quilt Guild meets on the second and fourth Wednesdays at the Kane County Active Living Center, 172 E. 100 North. The second-Wednesday schedule combines an 11 a.m. meeting with open sewing from noon to 4 p.m.; the fourth-Wednesday gathering runs from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Kane County lists $20 annual membership and says the group welcomes new members who want to learn.

Raising Kane Quilters meets at 10 a.m. on the first Tuesday in the Pinyon Room at the Kanab Center, 20 N. 100 East. The current Utah Quilt Guild directory confirms the meeting, but the chapter has no public calendar. Confirm before attending either group for the first time.

Kanab Quilt Retreat

The 2026 Kanab Quilt Retreat ran August 11 through 15 at the Kanab Center. Registration included a dedicated sewing table, cutting and pressing stations, open project time, optional classes, a welcome dinner, light breakfasts, and three catered lunches. Lodging was arranged separately rather than included in the retreat price.

The published 2026 price was $350 during early registration and $400 afterward. Those dates and prices are historical, not a promise for the next retreat. Use the organizer’s current registration page before planning travel.

Kane County Fair quilt exhibits

The annual Kane County Fair accepts quilts through its Home Arts department at the North Event Center in Orderville. The 2026 rules provided junior and senior divisions with categories for hand-quilted, machine-quilted, tied, and other quilts.

Indoor exhibits were open August 7 and 8 in 2026. Quilt and other Home Arts entries were received August 4 at the Utah State University Extension office in Kanab and August 5 and 6 at the North Event Center. Registration, drop-off locations, and the public schedule may change each year, so use the current fair booklet and exhibit rules.
