Quilting in Cedar City, Utah

Cedar City has no verified walk-in quilt shop, but it is the center of Iron County’s quilting community. The city supports a weekly guild, local pickup from an online fabric retailer, a retreat that draws hundreds of participants, and a public show of about 100 quilts each fall.

Cedar Chest Quilters’ Guild

Cedar Chest Quilters’ Guild meets at 10 a.m. every Thursday at the Cedar City Senior Center, 489 E. 200 South. Its current programs include classes, workshops, block-of-the-month projects, and community service.

The guild’s 2026 service work includes making quilts for babies born at Cedar City Hospital. The project welcomes volunteer makers and fabric donations, making the guild a practical entry point for local quilters who want to contribute.

Fabric pickup without a storefront

Cedarloom Fabrics sells quilting cotton, wovens, flannel, bundles, and notions online. Its current shipping policy offers Cedar City area pickup after an order is prepared and says pickup instructions are sent with the confirmation. It does not publish walk-in shopping hours, so order first and wait for the ready notice.

For a basic same-day need, Walmart’s Cedar City fabric page advertises by-the-yard cutting at its fabric table. Current third-party directories also list Stitching It Up on Main Street, but the store’s published website no longer resolves and no active first-party inventory or hours page could be verified.

Retreat and fall quilt show

The Cedar Chest annual retreat is held in early February at the Heritage Center. The 2026 event ran four days and included classes, workshops, open sewing, and vendors; consult the guild website for the next registration cycle.

The guild returns to the Heritage Center lobby during the Cedar Livestock & Heritage Festival for a free public quilt show.
